Why BMW is a Cult: The Ultimate Driving Machine is Exactly That for a Reason

Why BMW is a Cult: The Ultimate Driving Machine is Exactly That for a Reason BMW’s dedication to creating an ultimate driving machine is one of the top reasons why BMW has a cult following. If you think about what the word ‘cult’ means, Oxford says it’s a devotion or excessive admiration toward a particular object, BMW has done an amazing job of cultivating and maintaining a number of their models at that level. Not all of BMW’s models can achieve cult status and has those models that have reached that distinction has changed over the years. None can argue that the way it drives doesn’t contribute to the way people feel about these vehicles.   1968-76 BMW 2002: In an era before BMW was considered the Ultimate Driving Machine, they developed this sassy 4-cylinder model with front and rear independent suspension. History of the MINI

History of the MINI

History of the MINI The MINI was originally designed by BMC, as well as designer Sir Alec Issigonis in the 1950’s. Due to a fuel shortage, there was a demand for more efficient city cars. The MINI was developed as a result. Originally designed with two doors, the MINI had a 4-cylinder engine by BMC as well as a monocoque shell. Through the 60’s, MINI’s popularity grew. People enjoyed the small, compact design of the MINI, which allowed for it to take on its own distinctive identity as a car. The MINI Cooper was modeled as a special version of these first-generation MINIs. John Cooper of the Cooper Car Company recognized the potential of a motorsport version of the MINI, and so created the MINI Cooper in 1961. With a sportier Cooper S version, the MINI soon climbed to fame, with impressive representation in the 1967 British film The Italian Job as the vehicles of choice for the getaway cars in a bank heist. Through the 1970’s and the 1980&rs ... read more

The History of BMW

The History of BMW

The History of BMW   From its inception, BMW has been at the forefront of automotive innovation and has become a car brand synonymous with quality and luxury. From its roots as a struggling airplane engine company to its current status, BMW has evolved into a company that best represents German quality, design, and engineering. Rapp Motorenwerke was initially an aircraft engine company that had its first significant success during World War I. Bayerische Flugzeugwerke was an armaments company that suffered during that same war, which led to the merger with Rapp Motorenwerke. Fahrzeugfabrik Eisenach was founded as a stock company that built bicycles, but moved into the motor car business, becoming the third automobile manufacturer in Germany. The acquisitio ... read more
